As Einstein so eloquently put it, "A human being is a part of a whole, called by us...universe...a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness... This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Olympia FOR Works Locally to Abolish the Death Penalty

Posted by Web Editor on 14th June 2008

The Olympia FOR’s Committee for Alternatives to the Death Penalty works all year around to build a grassroots movement to abolish this atrocity. We increase our public outreach during the summer.

Build a strong local movement to abolish the death penalty

Posted by Web Editor on 8th June 2007

Abolishing the death penalty will require a grassroots movement that grows ever larger until a strong majority of public opinion insists on abolition. Then the governmental decision-makers will finally go along with the new majority. The Olympia FOR’s Committee for Alternatives to the Death Penalty is considering an ambitious plan with an ever-widening set of activities to accomplish just that.
