Posted by Web Editor on February 6th, 2007

5 March 2007

Monday 3/5/07: Every year the Washington Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (WCADP) holds a fundraising dinner with a special feature. This year it’s “The Executioner’s Last Song,” a multi-media presentation by Jon Langford and Friends. Best known as the front man for the Mekons, Jon Langford has created a mordantly beautiful performance work that is a compelling collection of tales and songs on the themes of murder, mob law, and cruel, cruel punishment. The performance combines live music, spoken word, his own visual art, and recordings of American roots music. Location: The Triple Door, 216 Union, downtown Seattle Tickets: $75 per person includes dinner. (cash bar) A limited number of standing-room-only spaces are available for $20 with no dinner. Info and reservations: 206-622-8952, email: info@abolishdeathpenalty.org or see www.abolishdeathpenalty.org/AbolitionDayDinner.htm.
